Check engine lights comes on after oil change. What could be the possible cause?

I have just bought a used 1990 Mercedes Benz ML 430. One of my routines when I buy used vehicles is to Change Engine Oil. I used the vehicle for about four days and she ran well. I only a couple of days ago changed the Engine Oil which was very dark when drained. I used synthetic oil. A couple of hours after changing the oil, the Check Engine Light Came on. I disconnected the battery because I wanted to repair the lock to the trunk. When I reconnected the battery, the check engine light was extinguished for a few minutes of driving but came one again and has stayed on since then. Can anyone help? My BAS light has been permanently on since i bought the vehicle. I also need help on this.

question about modifying a car.?

hi there, ive just blown the piston rings on my 2003 mini cooper s with 57,000 on the clock. this sounds unusual so far however i have had a lot of work done to the car and its running at 260bhp (standard out of factory for this model is 163bhp). so fast road camshaft, modified throttle body, bigger supercharger - my question is - this will cause a lot more heat and engine strain (have oil cooler and bigger intercooler to help) but is there a better type of piston/ring to replace the worn ones with? so this doesnt happen again..

Correct tyre pressure for my car?

I have a SEAT ibiza 2004 1.4 sport. I know i can find the pressures for my car, but i have fitted new sized alloys and tyres which are totally different to the originals tyres brought on the car. How can I find out the correct tyre pressure for my car with these new sized tyres fitted. Or do I still do the same pressure no matter what the size of the tyre? Thanks

window tint law sucks?

i got pulled over today for having my windows tinted too dark. but the thing is i got it from the dealer this way about year ago. i jus found this out last week when i tried to get my saftey inspection. and they said it was too dark. so i got a temporary safty inspection and they said i have to correct this problem by 30 days. what can i do? will the temporary saftey inspection help if i take it to court? can i blame the dealer for selling the car to me this way?please help!!!!

Are all 2007+ automatic Infiniti G35 equipped with the rev match downshift function?

I'm in the market for a new car and found that the sport model utilized a rev match function emulating that of a manual transmission. I had my car serviced and the spark plugs were not replaced....?

It is a diesel automatic and is 3 years old. I have looked back at the service history and they have never been replaced. Is this usual for a diesel engine and why???

Honda City (2004) Manual 7-Speed feature explanation?

So I've been driving my 2004 Honda City for nearly a year now and just recently I started playing around with the manual 7-Speed shifting (on the steering wheel). I've noticed that when I press the button and put it on manual, my acceleration seems to increase

I know next to nothing when it comes to the technical details about transmissions and gearboxes. I'm wondering if anyone can offer me an explanation of how the 7-speed actually works, what it does and when I should/shouldn't use it.

Right now I'm just using it whenever I need an extra bit of acceleration or driving long stretches of highway or when I feel like tinkering with it. I've read the manual but I still don't fully understand. I'd appreciate it if someone who drives a City can offer me some explanation

I have changed my cambelt on my Astra estate and i have 2 sensors 1 at the top next to the 2 big wheels and 1 next to my crankshaft pully. Could n e 1 tell me what they are also she doesn't start cause my spark plugs are not firing (no spark) Any suggestions ? Thanks

What would be the best tires for me to get for my VW golf mk4 with aftermarket wheels?

I have a 2000 VW golf is installed with aftermarket wheels/tires that have Dunlop tires with the size 225.40z.r18 88w.

Im not quite sure what those numbers mean, so im asking you guys for help!
What would be the best tires with that size for everyday driving? My budget is between 350-500 dollars for all four tires (excluding alignment, balancing, etc.).

Linea or New Honda City?

I wanted to buy a new car in price range Rs 7.5 – 9 Lacs. I had finalized 2 Cars – Fiant Linea Emotion Pk and NEW Honda City but got extremely confused after test drive. Though Honda seems to have an edge in terms of ride & interiors but Linea is quite competitive in price and features. So I am very much confused to finalize the car. 98 CrV heat is blowing warm (only warm) when the car is moving at least 30mph cold otherwise. anyone know why?

The heat normally works great - so great i have to turn it off, but since its gotten cold here, i mean its been 30 to -10 here for a couple months, the heat is only blowing warm, and i mean ONLY warm, when the car is moving at least 30 mph otherwise it blows cool or cold and the moment i stop moving its instantly cold? Even when it was overheating (which i have fixed) it did the same thing... at least then it was blowing hot air. i have replaced the battery cables and battery (they needed it anyway) but still no difference... any suggestions/ideas?

Can you buy a GM vehicle without On-Star?

I like some of the bells and whistles that come with a GM vehicle but some of the technology is just a bit to invasive for me. If OJ would have had On-Star he would have been in jail the first time. I mean suppose it is me running from the cops or I am sneaking out to score. Shouldn't I have the right to privacy after paying 45K for the vehicle? Will it cost me more to have the On-Star removed from my car than to keep it?

to much oil and puffing out with smoke?

hey i have a yamaha ag200 4-stroke i accidentaly added to much motor oil its pretty smokey atm.
i start it up it idles after 30 seconds it starts puffing out smoke and when i give it a rev it smokes even more.........i took out the spark plug and it was pretty oily thats a sighn of oil in the chamber i have a felling it could be the rings

im draining all the oil at the moment i recon this will help please someone help me!!!!!!!!

I never rotate my tires. I do not ever want worn tires on the rear of my vehicle. New tires go on the rear.?

I get excellent tire life, about 60,000 miles from 40,000 mile tires, following this practice. The front tires will wear normally but the rear tires show nearly no wear when the front tires are ready to be replaced.

I will I can't wait to get my lovely caravan out from winter storage, give it a good clean and polish and hook it up to my nice shiny new top of the range Freelander. I can't think of anything more pleasurable than getting on to the open road and travelling at a safe leisurely 55/60mph without a care in the world, knowing that unless some speed merchant tries to pass me on a narrow road and cut me up then I will arrive at my destination safe and sound. Door speakers and Rear speakers don't work after new cd player install...?

I recently got my Stereo replaced with a Alpine stereo in my 1997 dodge caravan at best buy.. after it was replaced the door and rear speakers dont work! only the front speakers that are on the dashboard. super sucks because most of the sound comes from the door and the 6x9 in back.. should i take it back to Best buy and complain or can anyone lead me in the right direction to fix myself?? i was thinking if the audio installer didn't know about this then i SHOULD be able to get it wired back together for free right?
ALSO!! when my car is OFF, my acc. position will not activate the stereo at all.. the automatic door locks will not activate.. the interior lights will not turn on unless i turn the key to start position...how is all this being affected just by the stock stereo?? help please =[

my car won't start but i have a new battery?

Hello!

i replaced my car battery a few months ago with a brand new one. This morning my car wouldn't start. at first it sounded like it was trying to but then after a few attempts it sounded like when my battery died before but surely a brand new battery wouldn't die after a few months? I am in the middle of all this snow at the moment but i drove the car yesterday and it was fine. Could it be something else or do i need to call up the company that sold me the new battery and give them an earful? the other half told me off as i pumped the accelorator starting it and apparently this floods the engine?
its a peugeot 306 1999. i definately didn't leave anything running and the battery was definately brand new. Some people have mentioned the alternator belt. Hoping that isn't expesive...it sounds it!

allrighty. need automotive/math/actuall miles help?

this is going to sound really strange so just bear with me for a minute.

i have a 98 dodge ram v10, with 33inch tires on it and 4.10 gears in the rear.
my speedo is off my about 5 mph... so when it reads 60 mph im really doing 65mph. the truck has 76231 miles on it. acording to the odometer. i need to know what my actuall miles are. assuming it has been running 33inch tires since it was purchased....

those in Melbourne especially the ones doing Myki bus trials in Victoria read this?

When you get on a bus that is going onto another zone eg start point is Zone X and the bus takes you to Zone Y
What would happen if you got on at Zone X touch on the myki like usual then before reaching Zone Y you touch off but not leave the bus then once your at Zone Y ( your destination) you get off without touching off knowing you already did in in Zone X.
Would you be only charged Zone X but not Y?
Can somebody try that for me if you understand me and give me your result?THANKS

Honda Accord 1991 overheating stops when I turn left. WHY?

The temperature starts to rise quickly, but not really until the red, but very near. If I force the engine or if I make a strong TURN TO THE LEFT, it drops, and doesn't come up anymore. Any ideas why??

We are looking at buying a 2004 car with 40k miles on it. There has been a bankruptcy that has a voluntary repo on it. It has been discharged last year. We have been approved for the loan. We believe the dealership is trying to add money onto the vehicle to make a profit by saying there has to be a certain amount for the loan to go through. The car is listed for $8140 and they are trying to sell it to us for $9000. Trade in is owned out right. No negative equity added to loan. What is the lowest amount a bank will finance for a 2004 vehicle on a 5 year loan? Thanks :)

Honda CR-V brake problems?

My cousin has a 2002 Honda CR-V. She's telling me that she keeps having to replace the brake pads and get the rotors either resurfaced or replaced like every 7 months or so. She doesn't really do a lot of stop and go driving and she's not putting a lot of miles on the car per year. Probably under 15,000 miles per year. So I started doing an internet search and it seems that Honda Accords seem to have premature brake wearing problems also. That's crazy. I get about 35,000 miles at least out of pads on my Dodge Magnum. Anything she can do to get more mileage out of her brakes? Any other Honda CR-V owners having the same problem?

Where is the ASR control on the 1994 SL500 Mercedes. I don't have an owners manuel for this vehicle.?

My car won't drive at normal speed because of the ASR mechanism on the vehicle. I can press the accelerator to the floor but still no increase in speed.
